Angel Garcia is an artist based in New York City. He received his BFA in Illustration from The Fashion Institute of Technology.
His work with community murals extends for almost a decade, working with several organizations and institutions including Groundswell, The Queens Museum, and The Fenimore Museum.
These projects created murals that are based on the input of participants and serve as a platform for their ideas. While always mindful of the final piece, he places particular emphasis on the process of collaboration. Murals, especially those in public spaces, are powerful to the extent that participants and community members have a chance to explore each others' knowledge and arrive at collective directions.
